What is special about Sindoh's latest 3DWOX 1 3D printer?

The Sindoh 3DWOX 1 is a desktop 3D printer made by Sindoh, a manufacturer from South Korea.  This 3D printer is based on the Sindoh DP200, a popular 3D printer on the market. The 3DWOX 1 is suitable for many different types of environments, including offices, classrooms, labs, and homes.

DP200 is already a very successful 3d printer and has scored near perfect ratings on Amazon.  

As mentioned in a lot of places on web such as fabbaloo, ESUN had partnered with Sindoh on filaments for years.  As such, since we are the major ESUN filament distributor in USA (together with INTSERVO), many DP200 users have contacted us about the possibility of filament refills, especially new colors.

We fully understand what customers want and have since communicated with Sindoh many times through ESUN's leaders.   We made a lot of suggestions on the feasibility of expanding colors offered.  Finally, Sindoh answered with this great new printer 3DWOX 1.

Here are the list of what is new in 3DWOX 1, as compared to its precedent DP200:

  • Heated metal flexible bedenables users to easily remove their 3D prints from the adhesive print bed. This also makes it possible to quickly swap build plates for semi-continuous 3D printing.
  • Offers hepa filter and fully enclosed structure for user safety.  This air filtration system limits odors as well as toxic particles.
  • Open source filament mode now available

The 1 is open for all. You may select the Open Material mode and discover the further 3D printing possibilities or select Sindoh filament to ensure the consistency in print quality.

Why Scrape?

Just peel it. The flexible metal bed plate of 3DWOX 1 enhances both safety and bed adhesion. Think of what can be achieved with the flexibility and heating capability merged into one metal platform. It is a revolution.

What is a HEPA filter?

High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, commonly used in air purifiers, is designed to arrest very fine particles effectively. The 3DWOX 1 comes with HEPA filter that will absorb any dust created during Printing. Let 3DWOX 1 assist you create a healthy printing environment for your loved ones.

Fully Automated Loading

At Sindoh, we believe 3D printing should be easy. On many 3D printers today, the process of changing filament is a difficult procedure which involves cutting, retrieving and placing into small openings, all manually performed by the user. This makes the 3D printing a difficult experience, so with 3DWOX 1, we keep it simple. Just insert the cartridge and you're done.

Assisted Bed Leveling

One of the keys to printing perfect prints every time is ensuring the print bed is perfectly leveled. You wouldn't want your house built on a slanted surface and the same is true for 3D printing. Bed leveling is important but with 3DWOX 1, we make it simple. The printer does the work and displays clear instructions to set the perfect level.

Remote Monitoring

3D Printing of intricate and large objects can be time consuming. At Sindoh, we believe in making the 3D Printing experience easy so we have integrated a camera and LED lighting into 3DWOX for remote monitoring of the printing process day or night. Simply install the 3DWOX mobile app on your phone or tablet to watch the print progress from the convenience of your living room.

Silence is the most pleasing sound of 3D printing. With its library noise level of 40 dB(A), you can now enjoy doing all kinds of things that require silence such as reading a book or taking a nap.

 

With all the great upgrades, I am going to focus on the most important feature in my opinion:  The Open Source Filament Mode.

How to use Open Material Mode

The OPEN MATERIAL enables the usage of a third-party filament without any cartridge and smart chip.

In the cartridge mode, the filament is automatically loaded and unloaded in optimal conditions, with our filament and smart chip.

On the other hand, the OPEN MATERIAL requires some manual operations by users for loading and unloading the filament.
Instead, it has the advantage of being able to use a third-party filament.

To use the OPEN MATERIAL, change the machine settings in the following procedure.
Then, follow the UI guide to load the filament.
For 
“how to use the slicer in the OPEN MATERIAL,” refer to the slicer manual in the memory stick.

  1. Press the [SETTING] button on the Home screen to access settings.

    2. Press the [Next] button to access the [OPEN MATERIAL] screen.


  1. Press the arrow to change it to “Done” state and then press the [OK] button

    4. Read the OPEN MATERIAL guide pop-up and then press the [OK] button.

   5.  “OPEN MATERIAL” is displayed at the bottom of the main screen.

Here are some warnings that Sindoh listed out in particular:

Caution

- Improper usage of a third-party filament may cause device failure and poor printing quality.
Therefore, it is important to create a correct gcode and apply it to a device by fully understanding
the characteristics of a third-party filament, including the recommended printing temperature and speed.

- As soft filament with shore hardness of 65 D or less (TPU, TPE, etc.) may cause transfer problem, it is not applicable.
A filament containing abrasive additives (metal component, carbon fiber) may cause transfer problem and reduce the service life of nozzles.

- If a third-party filament has a too large spool, it would not be usable with it inserted.
Make sure that the spool to be used has the width of 67 mm or less and an outer diameter of 213 mm or less.

Although the 3DWOX 1 supports open material mode, we recommend the use of Sindoh filament on the printer. The filament available for use in Open Material Mode is shown below.

Although you can literally try out any 3rd party filaments, Sindoh had in particular tested many more colors of eSUN filaments.  That is very understandable.  Sindoh had been trying to expand the refill offering of more colors anyway.  The refills of DP200/201 are based on eSUN PLA+ and eSUN PLA+ has 24 colors to choose from!  eSUN filaments would be the best fit "3rd party" filaments that the 3DWOX 1 can use.
